CHOPPE SHOPPE FEATURE
Tightening the Clutch on an 80 Shovel

Butch limped in to Bike-Shows' Shoppe with a slipping clutch after riding through the hills in and around Southern California. I quick removal of the primary cover plate and we noticed the center nut on the pressure plate was missing. Finding just the right size nut in our junk drawer we got busy getting his ride back to tire burning status.

Tighten the nut all the way to hand tightness. Back it off a bit and tighten the adjusting screw to full hand tightness. Then tighten the nut again. Close the cover and get on it. It's that easy!

So where is the nut? We felt around the primary housing and didn't find it. It isn't rattling around, so it probably is lodged in somewhere. We let it be and told him to listen for it and if it starts making noise take the cover off and remove it.
