The Grand National Roadster Show
Pomona, CA • January 2005

Behind the Velvet Ropes!

Beautiful as they are sculptures of steel, rubber, and paint these beasts barely drive. I bet the crowd put more miles on their shoes walkin the event than all these bikes combined!

For God's sake, what am I to expect? It's the Grand National Roadster Show. The Almighty custom car showcase in the freakin' WORLD. And on this bright mid-winter Sunny Southern California day I took my bike out to a car-show!

It was a good variety of rods, customs, classics, bikes, and specialty vehicles. A lot of interesting vendors at the show too. From mom&pop polish companies to the several semi's of Meguiars.

We're here to talk about the bikes.

Sure there are the beautiful trailer queen bikes. The ones that may inspire a builder or rider to try something different. To set their scooter apart from all the other bikes out there. These pics show some cool ass customs, old school choppers, and more bobbers. But, these bobbers aren't the classic dirty riden bobbers of their heyday. These bobbers are more like modern customs with evo motors and shiney paint. Lots of theme bikes. On this page we see the Praying Mantis, and El Rey with it's twisted chrome frame. On page Three you will see "Dirty Sanchez". An over-the-top chopper.

I almost missed this part of the show. After viewing all the rods and customs in and around four buildings of the Fairplex, I overheard a guy say that the went to all seven buildings. Seven?! Yep in the back were three other buildings and in one was all the scooters. Of course we are in the back. I should have known. If you want to see eight pages of pics of the cars follow this link to our sister site Car-Shows.com.

See you on the road.
