Bikes FAQs
I’m looking for a reliable bike to ride
to work. What kind of features should I look for?
In general, those bikes that are ridden on residential and city streets
should have tires that are thin and capable of staying well inflated.
It is important that these bikes are easy to maneuver thanks to the
fact that they are often ridden along with unpredictable traffic. This
means that tires with a lot of tread on them are not really needed.
As far as the seat on the bikes is concerned, it might be best to find
a seat that is a decent size and cushioned. Seats that are not cushioned
or are thin are typically better for those who do not use the seat too
much.
When should bike helmets be used?
Most safety proponents would say that bicycle helmets should be worn
at all times. Statistics show that the number of head injuries and fatalities
resulting from head injuries decreases greatly when bicycle helmets
are used. Some states require that bike helmets be worn at all times
by children on bikes.
A person who is riding bikes in areas where there is a lot of traffic
is always wise to wear bike helmets. A bicycle helmet is really a person’s
only line of defense. Therefore those who use these helmets are typically
much safer than those who do not.
I want to get out and do more exercise, but I’m afraid
riding a bike might wear me out before I get back home. Any suggestions?
Electric bicycles exist for the purpose of helping people who simply
may not have the energy or ability to reach their goals while riding
their bikes. For example, if a person enjoys riding his or her bike
on a certain road, but finds that there is one hill that is impossible
for him or her to ride up, the battery in an electric bike can be activated
to assist the rider to get up the hill. Because it can take a lot of
energy when these batteries are used, it is recommended that a person
pedals as much as he or she is able to and only uses the battery when
needed.
