Bike Shop
Bike shop owners must compete with online bike shops more
and more. Some bike shops have seen business drop significantly in the
last decade or so.
Despite this, there are several things that a bike shop owner can do
to try to attract new customers and retain the customers he already
has. They include:
• Hire knowledgeable employees – A bike shop owner
who shells out the extra cash to hire good employees who know about
the products they are selling is investing in his business. Often people
will come to shop at a bike shop where they know they will be able to
speak with somebody who is knowledgeable about bikes. Shopping online
does not always allow a person to have the same opportunity to have
his questions answered by somebody who is knowledgeable.
• Encourage loitering (to a point) – A bike shop
that sells only bikes and bike accessories might have a tougher time
making a profit than a bike shop that has a small deli with some tables
and chairs inside of it. By having a bike shop as well as a deli or
sandwich shop, a person increases the customer base that will visit
the building. Undoubtedly, those who have come to look at bikes will
wander to the sandwich shop and vice versa.
By creating a bike shop that is inviting and well-run, a person is more
likely to be successful in his business endeavors.
